The Word

The twelve apostles were changed by our Lord Jesus Christ in three and a half years

They were no scholars, just normal men with petty jobs. But Jesus chose these men for the most critical task of the church—to lay a spiritual foundation in the habitations of cruelty, wickedness, hate, oppression, and persecution. What made these unknown men succeed? How did they survive the brutal opposition?

1. The word feeds our spirit

The first and an important task of the word of God is to feed us. Every word birthed by the Spirit feeds our spirit and produces life. We eat daily for our bodies, but we also need to feed our spirits every day. The word of God is a superfood that has enough nutrients for both a baby and an adult.

'But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.' Mat 4:4.

2. The word renews our minds

In the new birth, our spirits are saved. The salvation of our minds is a process; we must change it from the patterns we have gotten. The word of God changes it. This means that our responsibility is to expose ourselves to the word constantly so that patterns producing death change to the patterns of God.

'And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.' Rom 12:2.

3. The word is a lamp unto our feet

Without light, it is completely dark » we will fall. The light shows the truth and reveals the lies. The word of God is a shining lamp and light. We are holy, but our steps become holy when we know the truth. Our every step must have its base on the word.

'Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.' Ps 119:105.

'Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.' Joh 17:17.

4. By the word we grow to perfection

We can trust the Bible. It is written by God, and He does not make mistakes. This eternal word brings us to spiritual maturity. It provides and equips us with the tools for every task.

'All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.' 2 Tim 3:16,17.

'... The word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.' Acts 20:32

5. By the word we prosper

People want to prosper in their marriage, growing up their children, in career, financially etc., and for this they study hard and read a lot of books. But God has given us a single book, which guarantees success in every area of our lives.

'This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.' Joos 1:8.

6. The word is our weapon

In the spirit, degrees or riches do not have weight; Satan laughs at them. The armies of darkness want to overcome us. What can oppose them?

'When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.' Jes 59:19

What is this standard? The word of God.

'And take ... the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.' Eph 6:17.

  • Apostles stayed with the Holy Spirit.

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. Acts 6:4 KJV

  • The results made some angry.

And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also. Acts 17:6 KJV

  • And others said they were gods.

And the crowds, when they saw what Paul had done, lifted up their voices, shouting in the Lycaonian language, The gods have come down to us in human form! Acts 14:11 AMPC

  • It is time to wake up.

Brethren, it is high time we truly knew Jesus. Personally and intimately

  • To carry His presence.

Submerge ourselves in His presence, righteousness, love, joy and peace

  • To destroy all strongholds.

Strongholds of the devil in our and others' lives must be completely destroyed and vanquished.
