Spiritual cloud of witnesses

Time would fail us to mention our elder brothers and sisters who have gone head of us. They excel using the same principles as discussed on this webpage. These giants of faith must not be forgotten, kindly search for them, study their lives, strengths and weaknesses and move on to shake your world for the Lord.

1.

“We are saved by faith alone, but the faith that saves is never alone.”

“Unless I am convicted by Scripture and plain reason-I do not accept the authority of popes and councils, for they have contradicted each other-my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand, I cannot do otherwise. God help me. Amen.”

Martin Luther: 1483-1546

When faith had lost its meaning and 'the way to heaven' was through indulgences a man of faith arose. Prior he was only self -whipping monk. But when the Word of God got hold of him, specifically 'the just shall live by faith', the whole church was revived to live a life of living faith.

2.

“A man with God is always in the majority.”

“The Scriptures of God are my only foundation and substance in all matters of weight and importance.”

“I sought neither preeminence, glory, nor riches; my honor was that Jesus Christ should reign.”

John Knox: 1514-1572

Any and every man is known for his prayer life. It was said that Mary, the Queen of Scots, feared more the prayers of John Knox than all the assembled armies of Europeans. After one prayer meeting Knox had with his friends, it was told to them that the Queen had died. A coincidence? Herod was struck by an angel of God and died because he did not give glory to God. Was this also a coincidence?

3.

“God does nothing apart from prayer, but he does everything by it.”

“The people who get in trouble in our company are those who carry around the anchor of the past.”

John Welch: 1570-1622

This man, from the beginning of his ministry to his death, reckoned the day ill-spent if he stayed not seven or eight hours in prayer. Is this why he could pray prayers like, Lord, wilt Thou not grant me Scotland? My friend, do you pray? Have you given yourself to travail in prayer? For those and only those who pray are mighty in the kingdom.

4.

“Get on fire for God and men will come and see you burn.”

“You have one business on earth - to save souls.”

“Whosoever will reign with Christ in heaven, must have Christ reigning in him on earth”

“Reading Christians are growing Christians. When Christians cease to read, they cease to grow.”

John Wesley: 1703-1791

When churches and saloons are emptied to hear a man preaching a sermon in a graveyard, there must be something extraordinary happening. John was set on fire for God, and the whole globe came to know this burning and shining light. As Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield were, by the grace of God, waking up America, so was John Wesley waking up Europe.

5.

“Resolution One: I will live for God. Resolution Two: If no one else does, I still will.”

“A true and faithful Christian does not make holy living an accidental thing. It is his great concern. As the business of the soldier is to fight, so the business of the Christian is to be like Christ.”

“All earthly desires are but streams, but God is the ocean.”

Jonathan Edwards: 1703-1758

'Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God'. This single sermon sparked one of the greatest moves of God in history, the First Great Awakening. Tens of thousands of people made public confessions in different states. Benjamin Franklin said it seemed as if the whole world were growing religious, so that one could not even walk through the town in an evening without hearing psalms sung by different families on every street.

6.

“If you are going to walk with Jesus Christ, you are going to be opposed... In our days, to be a true Christian is really to become a scandal.”

“Study to know Him more and more, for the more you know, the more you will love Him.”

George Whitefield: 1714-1770

Lead figure or one of the lead figures in The First Great Awakening. He was probably the most known man of that time in America. A man preached his sermons outdoors to thousands of listeners. The colonies turned back to God. Without the First Great Awakening, there would not have been the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, or the Constitution.

7.

“I care not where I go, or how I live, or what I endure so that I may save souls. When I sleep I dream of them; when I awake they are first in my thoughts.”

“Let me forget the world and be swallowed up in the desire to glorify God.”

David Brainerd: 1718-1747

A devoted missionary to Native Americans. He gave his whole life to save the lost that no one cared about but his Lord had died for. This prayer machine spends some hours of his nights outdoors praying while kneeling in the snow. The fervor of the prayers was so intense that he was soaked in sweat.

8.

“I'm not afraid of failure; I'm afraid of succeeding at things that don't matter.”

“Prayer - secret, fervent, believing prayer - lies at the root of all personal godliness.”

“It is the duty of those who are entrusted with the Gospel to endeavor to make it known among all nations.”

“Surely it is worthwhile to lay ourselves out with all our might in promoting the cause and kingdom of Christ.”

William Carey: 1761-1834

When a man puts his life, marriage, future, and everything he has on stake for God, something remarkable is going to be born. So was the life of William Carey. It was through this man that mission work was revived globally. Truly, we must take the gospel to all the world.

9.

“When Mr. Finney and I began our race, we had no thought of going amongst ministers. Our highest ambition was to go where there was neither minister nor reformation and try to look up the lost sheep, for whom no man cared. We began and the Lord prospered. But we go into no man's parish unless called. We have room enough to work and work enough to do.”

“Oh, I am dying for the want of strength to pray! My body is crushed, the world is on me, and how can I forbear praying?”

“By Finney: Like anybody who does a lot of praying, Father Nash is a very quiet person. Show me a person who is always talking and I'll show you a Christian who never does much praying.”

Daniel Nash: 1775-1831

I have known that man go to bed absolutely sick, for weakness and faintness, under the pressure. And I have known him pray as if he would do violence to Heaven, and then have seen the blessing come as plainly in answer to his prayer as if it were revealed, so that no person could doubt it any more than if God had spoken from heaven. Shall I tell you how he died? He prayed more and more; he used to take the map of the world before him, and pray, and look over the different countries and pray for them, till he expired in his room, praying. Blessed man! He was the reproach of the ungodly, and of carnal, unbelieving professors; but he was the favorite of Heaven, and a prevailing prince of prayer.

10.

“It is the great business of every Christian to save souls. People complain that they do not know how to take hold of this matter. Why, the reason is plain enough; they have never studied it. They have never taken the proper pains to qualify themselves for the work. If you do not make it a matter of study, how you may successfully act in building up the kingdom of Christ, you are acting a very wicked and absurd part as a Christian.”

“Revival is a renewed conviction of sin and repentance, followed by an intense desire to live in obedience to God. It is giving up one's will to God in deep humility.”

“You hear the word, and believe it in theory, while you deny it in practice. I say to you, that 'you deceive yourselves'.”

Charles G. Finney: 1792-1875

'Father of Old Revivalism'. People were crying, laying on the floor, and in agony because of their sins when they heard him preach. Whole towns, cities, and nations were changed under the power of God. Hundreds of thousands turned to God in true repentance, changing their whole lives to obey, love, and please God. When skeptics came to the cities where he was working, they came under a soul-reaching atmosphere of holiness, and they noticed that the yet unbelieving townspeople shared the same conviction of the manifested holiness of God in and around the whole city.

11.

“The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.”

“Money is really worth no more than as it can be used to accomplish the Lord's work. Life is worth as much as it is spent for the Lord's service.”

George Müller: 1805-1899

A man who took care of tens of thousands of orphans. Just by prayer, the children and facilities got all the food, equipment, and necessities they needed.

12.

“May not a single moment of my life be spent outside the light, love, and joy of God's presence. Not a moment without the entire surrender of myself as a vessel for him to fill full of his Spirit and his love”

“God cannot hear the prayers on our lips often because the desires of our heart after the world cry out to Him much more strongly and loudly than the our desires for Him.”

Andrew Murray: 1828-1917

A man of deep commitment to God. His life was a reproving to those who just professed religion without having the heart to actually live it. People were drawn to a true, personal, and deep commitment to God, to please and love Him, and to seek and do His will in all matters. Life was no longer about them but about God. That is true repentance and turning to God.

13.

“I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.”

“You cannot warm the hearts of people with God's love if they have an empty stomach and cold feet.”

“Most Christians would like to send their recruits to Bible college for five years. I would like to send them to hell for five minutes. That would do more than anything else to prepare them for a lifetime of compassionate ministry.”

William and Catherine Booth: 1829-1912, 1829-1890

A couple who turned the world upside down for Jesus. The gospel was taken to ~58 countries and colonies during their lifetime. After their deaths, the work has spread to more than 100 counties. If you are not preaching the gospel, you are not living a true Christian life.

14.

“There are three great truths, 1st, That there is a God; 2nd, That He has spoken to us in the Bible; 3rd, That He means what He says.”

“The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.”

“Do not have your concert first and then tune your instrument. Begin the day with the Word of God and prayer, and get first of all into harmony with Him.”

Hudson Taylor: 1832-1905

A man left his mother nation to go into a strange, big country where Christianity was almost not heard of. His life was given to the lost so that those without Jesus would meet the master personally and be forgiven of their sins. This country, China, came to contain some of the most vibrant Christians there have ever been. If you are not willing to put your life at stake for Jesus, know that He put His life on stake for you first. Now is your time to put your life on stake for others.

15.

“Whatever a man depends upon, whatever rules his mind, whatever governs his affections, whatever is the chief object of his delight, is his god.”

“Who among you today is doing the most for your Master's kingdom? I will tell you. Lend me a spiritual thermometer by which I may try the heat of your heart, and I will tell you the amount of your success.”

“Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you're not saved yourself, be sure of that!”

C. H. Spurgeon: 1834-1892

Even at a young age, he was working as a pastor and preached with deep fervor and passion. He raised his weapons, which were mighty through God against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom sins, to the thousands and even tens of thousands of listeners while impressing you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity. And he did this, by the grace of God, through over 3600 sermons.

16.

“If our spiritually dead ones are to be raised, we must first get power with God. The reason we so often fail in moving our fellowmen is that we try to win them without first getting power with God. Jesus was in communion with His Father, and so He could be assured that His prayers were heard.”

“The Bible was not given for our information but for our transformation.”

D. L. Moody: 1837-1899

One young woman was touched by a sermon he was preaching outdoors but left without making a commitment to Christ. Moody noticed the woman and went after her. The woman increased her speed and tried to evacuate to her apartment. She reached the doorknob, rushed in, ran to her bedroom, and dove under the bed. Moody came after and pulled the woman from under the bed, persuading her for giving her life to Christ. The woman was saved in tears, and later, when telling the story, she thanked God, for without it, she would have been lost for eternity.

17.

“Singing does at least as much as preaching to impress the word of God upon people's minds.”

“Moody's first words to him, after an introduction, were, 'Where are you from? Are you married? What is your business?' Sankey replied he lived in Pennsylvania, had a wife and two children and was employed by the government, whereupon Moody replied, 'You will have to give that up.' Sankey was reluctant to give up his job but Moody pressed him, saying, 'You must; I have been looking for you the last eight years'.”

Ira David Sankey: 1840-1908

Together the two, Moody and Sankey, traveled to England as well as urban areas in the eastern United States 'reducing the population of hell by a million souls.

18.

“I find that the earnest followers of Christ have very little rest here. Like our Master, we must be about our Father's business.”

“Paul says preaching has to be with demonstration of the Spirit and of power. The Holy Ghost bears witness with signs and miracles; unless these attend our ministry we cannot succeed.”

Maria Woodworth-Etter: 1844-1924

A thug group came into one of her meetings, threatening her and her workers. Maria pointed her hand toward them, saying, The first of you trying to do any harm to my people shall be struck dead by God. The whole group came to such a conviction that they gave their lives to God, and henceforth, they were protecting Mama Etter. One time, a man interrupted a sermon with vulgar language and blasphemy. In that instant, his tongue swelled so much that it stayed outside his mouth. After seeking help from the doctors, the man came to Mama Etter in repentance. She laughed, touched the tongue, and it returned to normal instantly.

19.

“I have crossed the ocean fourteen times by ship. During those fourteen crossings, many storms arose. But every time a storm came up, I always did like Jesus did: I rebuked that storm. And every single one ceased.”

“There are many Christians who are Christians in theory only, and they are worldlings in practice.”

“You do not base your belief that Jesus is the Saviour from sin upon the fact that somebody is saved, or says he is saved; but you base it upon the Word of the living God; and there you stand.”

“Disease, like Sin, is God's enemy, and the devil's work, and can never be God's will.”

John Alexander Dowie: 1847-1907

A man with cancer in his face was brought before Dowie in the presence of multiple doctors. Dowie went to the man in a rush, pushed forth his hand, and grabbed the cancer. He shouted, In the name of Jesus, and pulled the cancer off his face. The doctors came right away to examine the man and noticed that in the place of the tumor was skin like baby skin.

20.

“Divine healing is an eternal fact.”

“Now, who is going to trust God for the winged life? You can crawl instead if you wish. God will even bless you if you crawl; He will do the best He can for you, but oh how much better to avail ourselves of our wonderful privileges in Christ and to ‘mount up with wings as eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint.’ O beloved friends, there is a life on wings. I feel the streams of His life fill me and permeate my mortal frame from my head to my feet, until no words are adequate to describe it. I can only make a few bungling attempts to tell you what it is like and ask the Lord to reveal to you the rest. May He reveal to you your inheritance in Christ Jesus so that you will press on and get all that He has for you.”

Carrie Judd: 1858-1946

When God calls someone, the person is truly called. This woman of faith fought and declared the healing power of God with her black friend in a time when women preachers, black people, and divine healing were all opposed. Yet none of those things put her down. At this present moment, the church is overtaken by greed, wordliness, lukewarmness, and hypocrisy. Are you going to fight the good fight of faith through the power of God? Are you going to see a change in the whole moral climate of the body of Christ and civilizations?

21.

“I am not moved by what I see. I am moved only by what I believe. I know this, no man looks at appearances if he believes. No man considers how he feels if he believes. The man who believes God has it.”

“You must everyday make higher ground. You must deny yourself to make progress with God.”

“Don't take part in an unprofitable conversation after lunch, but read a chapter from the Word and have a season of prayer. I aim to do this not matter where I am”

Smith Wigglesworth: 1859-1947

An Apostle of Faith. God raised 24 individuals from the dead through him. The only book he ever read in his life was the Bible, and he dedicated his days to reading it and praying. He was reading the Bible and praying, reading the Bible and praying, reading the Bible and praying. Can you now explain why this man was so strong in faith?

22.

“I believe the Bible is the word of God from cover to cover.”

“Conversion is a complete surrender to Jesus. It's a willingness to do what he wants you to do.”

“I have more respect for the devil than for some preachers I have met; the devil believes the Bible is the Word of God!”

Billy Sunday: 1862-1935

A former baseball player turned to Christ with all his heart. Imagine a man pushing with all his effort to excel in physical activities, now pushing for Christ in multiple gospel crusades. The world is still yet to recover from the impact of God through him.

23.

“The renewal of the Church will depend on the renewal of our prayer life.”

“I never before knew what it was to work all day and then pray all night before God for another… In college or at parties at home, I used to keep such hours for myself, or pleasure, and can I not do as much for God and souls?”

John (praying) Hyde: 1865-1912

He didn't do traditional missionary work. He spent most of his time in prayer. He prayed till God gave him one soul each day. Then he prayed till God gave him two souls every single day. This man was a prayer in the form of a man. It was told that doctors noticed his heart had moved to the right side of his chest because of the fervor and zeal with which he worked in his prayers. Can you see yourself praying alike for the souls that enjoy the pleasures of sin and not the beauty of holiness in God? If not, it is time to repent.

24.

“When I saw for the first time by the Word of God that sickness was not the Will of God, everything in my nature rose up to defeat the will of the devil.”

“In those early centuries of Christianity, Christianity did not go into the world apologizing. It went to slay the powers of darkness and undo the works of the devil, and it lived in holy triumph.”

John G. Lake: 1870-1935

This man showed the world that Jesus still heals by demonstrating God's supernatural healing power in the presence of multiple medical professionals. Not only did this happen multiple times, but he also challenged professors of other religions head-on to battles of power to see whether one's god is truly God. You know, Jesus won every time. Go and shake your world for Jesus!

25.

“I can say, through the power of the Spirit, that wherever God can get a people that will come together in one accord and one mind in the Word of God, the baptism of the Holy Ghost will fall upon them, like as at Cornelius' house.”

“Any man that is saved and sanctified can feel the fire burning in his heart, when he calls on the name of Jesus.”

William J. Seymour: 1870-1922

This black one-eyed man spent his time in the meeting before his time to preach, sitting and his head inside a box. It was God he needed, and God he needed to hear from. And glory followed. The cloud of the glory of God was witnessed in the meetings and children were playing in it; cancer tumors dropped out of the bodies of people; adults and even babes raised their hands simultaneously like some one would direct them without anyone actually guiding anyone in the presence and worship of God; angels were heard singing with the saints; and a fire of God was shown above the old mule stall where they met. This was the final indignation leading to the fire of Pentecost engulfing the whole globe.

26.

“Some people wonder why they can't have faith for healing. They feed their body three hot meals a day, and their spirit one cold snack a week.”

“We see, from almost every conceivable angle throughout the Scripture, that there is no doctrine more clearly taught than that it is God's will to heal all who have need of healing, and that they may fulfill the number of their days according to His promise.”

F. F. Bosworth: 1877-1958

He went to Zion City and lived next to John G. Lake. Then they heard of the Azusa Street revival, went there, and were filled with the Holy Spirit. Then was the time to heal the sick. He cooperated with William Branham, for that man had tremendous success in teaching and Bosworth healing the sick. When he was of retirement age, he saw how it was possible to profess to great crowds the healing power of Christ, and sick people were healed. He returned to the ministry. A stationary stone will get mossy, but a rolling stone will never. Are you a stationary stone or a rolling one? Roll 100% for Christ today!

27.

“Bend me, bend me, O God.”

“I am in the hands of Jesus.”

“Do not try to do great things, just try to be calm and patient. Let God speak through you.”

Evan Roberts: 1878-1951

In a church meeting, this young man leaned forward and started to pray in an intense and heartfelt voice, saying, Bend me, bend me, O God. The result was one of the mightiest revivals the earth has ever witnessed. Pubs, saloons, liquor stores, and dancing halls were all emptied because all the people of the cities went to the church gatherings. So mighty was the reformation that the police didn't have tasks to do, so they participated in the meetings, keeping up the order there while themselves hearing the words of salvation. Even the mining work was at stake because the asses of the swearing miners obeyed only when they were sweared at, but now none of the miners used a single swear word. To see the mighty glory of God poured upon cities and nations, there has always been an individual of prayer. Are you that individual?

28.

“The nature of Christ's salvation is woefully misrepresented by the present-day evangelist. He announces a Saviour from Hell rather than a Saviour from sin. And that is why so many are fatally deceived, for there are multitudes who wish to escape the Lake of fire who have no desire to be delivered from their carnality and worldliness.”

“It is not the absence of sin but the grieving over it which distinguishes the child of God from empty professors”

“True liberty is not the power to live as we please, but to live as we ought.”

A. W. Pink: 1886-1952

This man was preaching the gospel and writing through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, as the Word of God was actually true and meant what it said. He did not fear severe opposition or contradictions, but he wanted to wake up the sleeping church. Are you part of a sleeping church and even content with it? Do you actually live according to the truth of the gospel? Now is the time to wake up! NOW is the time to rise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.

29.

“We are afraid of disturbing people today. You must not have their emotions stirred, you must not have the people weeping in a meeting, you must not have the people rolling on the floor under conviction of sin; keep things orderly. May God help us, may God have mercy upon us. Who are we to dictate to Almighty God as to how He is going to work?”

“There is a kind of gospel being proclaimed today which conveniently accommodates itself to the spirit of the age, and makes no demand for godliness.”

“The church that does not evangelize will fossilize.”

Duncan Campbell: 1898-1972

This man was thrown into the midst of a great revival. When he arrived, he noticed immediately that these were men who meant business. There he worked in the revival, where he met time and time again hundreds upon hundreds of people, young and old, male and female, under a mighty conviction of sin. It was as if God had come to town. People were kneeling on the streets and fields in multitudes because they felt God's presence and were crying for mercy. They needed mercy! If you haven't come to Christ yet, so do you!

30.

“Any church that is not seriously involved in helping fulfill the Great Commission has forfeited its biblical right to exist.”

“It matters not how spiritual a church may profess to be, if souls are not saved, something is radically wrong, and the professed spirituality is simply a false experience, a delusion of the devil. People who are satisfied to meet together simply to have a good time among themselves are far away from God. Real spirituality always has an outcome.”

“Oh, how few find time for prayer! There is time for everything else, time to sleep and time to eat, time to read the newspaper and the novel, time to visit friends, time for everything else under the sun, but-no time for prayer, the most important of all things, the one great essential!”

Oswald J. Smith: 1889-1986

Not many have a heart for mission work like this man. If you want to find a shepherd who, even though working locally, was still burning and living to reach those who have not yet heard the gospel even once, then this is the man. My brother and sister, die for Jesus while making the gospel known wherever you are and making sure people will know that Jesus died for them.

31.

“Awake! thou that sleepest, arise from the dead! The Lord still lives today. His power has never abated. His Word has never changed. The things He did in Bible days, He still lives to do today. Not a burden is there He cannot bear nor a fetter He cannot break.”

“We are all making a crown for Jesus out of these daily lives of ours, either a crown of golden, divine love, studded with gems of sacrifice and adoration, or a thorny crown, filled with the cruel briars of unbelief, or selfishness, and sin.”

“What is my task? To get the gospel around the world in the shortest possible time to every man and woman and boy and girl!”

Aimee Semple McPherson: 1890-1944

At a young age, she trained herself to preach with inanimate objects. Opposing her mother to visit Pentecostal meetings for more of God, she spent the whole day in prayer. That night, she was baptized in the Holy Spirit. In her life, she was opposed so many times. She never did shy away but fought—oh, she fought like a lion against every opposition and perception. And she always won. Oh, why are we so timid today? When someone says something false about us or intimitates us, why do we quiet down and shy away? Oh, we must change! Jesus never let the opposition silence him. He silenced the opposition! You! Do the same in the name of Jesus!

32.

“You can never learn that Christ is all you need, until Christ is all you have.”

“Trying to do the Lord's work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting, and tedious of all work. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then the ministry of Jesus just flows out of you.”

“Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?”

“Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible.”

Corrie Ten Boom: 1892-1983

Will you stand for Christ even if people are cruelly killed next to you? Are you willing to stand even if it costs your freedom, your dreams, your family, and even your life? This woman stood when her whole family, her friends, and her whole future were lost. She chose to confess the same testimony as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Dan 3:16-18 KJV

33.

“A scared world needs a fearless church.”

“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”

“True religion confronts earth with heaven and brings eternity to bear upon time.”

A. W. Tozer: 1897-1963

He made the Word really come alive. Not looking for influence but just the pure presence of God and to go deeper and deeper with Him. He was completely the same person in the pulpit and in person. He had a deep, intimate, and personal relationship with the Lord, which he fed every day with the Bible and seasons of personal prayer. Do you? Are you the same person when speaking to others about God and when being privately with Him? Or are you ever privately with Him? Do you spend your time soaking in the scriptures, reading for hours, and letting Him speak to you? Do you pray to God on your knees, flat on the floor, laughing, weeping, crying, whispering, and shouting? The men who have weight in their words have gotten it in a secret place; the weight is their personal fellowship with the Lord. Why are your words so light, I wonder?

34.

“Oh God, here's my Bible, Here's my money. Here's me. Use me, God.”

“If God has called you to China or any other place and you are sure in your own heart, let nothing deter you. Remember, it is God who has called you and it is the same as when He called Moses or Samuel”

Gladys Aylward: 1902-1970

A young woman felt the call of God to China. To people she didn't know, to a culture completely strange. But she knew they were without Christ and without hope in the world. She returned as an old lady to visit her native country, which she left decades ago, and soon returned to where the call of God was. Have you heard the call of God? Have you heard divine words pointed at you and inflaming your heart to save the lost at all costs? Volunteer to the use of the Master and see souls enter the life ever after.

35.

“Outside of Christ, I am only a sinner, but in Christ, I am saved. Outside of Christ, I am empty; in Christ, I am full. Outside of Christ, I am weak; in Christ, I am strong. Outside of Christ, I cannot; in Christ, I am more than able. Outside of Christ, I have been defeated; in Christ, I am already victorious. How meaningful are the words, 'in Christ.'”

“If you would test the character of anything, you only need to enquire whether that thing leads you to God or away from God.”

Watchman Nee: 1903-1972

It is not about your education, your background, or even you. Just give the material to God, and he will make something out of it! A testimony was born when a young Chinese man professed Jesus as his Lord. He preached, he wrote, he was put into prison, he awakened, and he labored. This is a testimony to a life lived for a purpose. If you don't give your life for Christ without reservation, you don't have any meaning to live, not even the right to exist. Now God is calling you to repent. Cry for mercy and throw yourself into God's hands and watch what He will make out of you!

36.

“God's people are not called to walk by feelings or by sight, but by faith.”

“The church of Jesus Christ is built on the rock of revelation, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

“The unity of the body of Christ is the key to the end-time harvest.”

David du Plessis: 1905-1987

A great prophecy came through Smith Wigglesworth to him, and he answered, I must judge the prophecy through the scriptures. Smith answered, Good never go by the prophecy but by the word of God. So he did, and so did God. David went preaching the gospel from nation to nation by the power of the Holy Spirit. Never just follow the prophecies, even from genuine men or women, but instead conduct everything you do according to what the word of God says. Prophesying will fade away, but God's word will never fade away!

37.

“I believe in miracles, because I believe in God.”

“The secret of my strength is simple: I pray.”

“I'm not a healer, and I'm not a miracle worker. I'm just a little nobody, telling everybody about somebody, who can save anybody.”

“I surrendered unto Him all there was of me; everything! Then for the first time I realized what it meant to have real power.”

Kathryn Kuhlman: 1907-1976

She had felt the call and replied, but then married, crying right after the wedding that it was not God's will. She lived some time in misery until she divorced her husband. Now she was a woman preacher; at the time, woman preachers were not widely accepted. And in addition, a divorcee. But that did not hinder the glory of God. Thounsands, even tens and hunders of thoundas, were healed, and multitudes entered the kingdom. A manifestation of the Spirit and of power indeed. Has society rejected you? Has the religious community turned you down? Congratulations! That is the point for you to enter into the glory of God.

38.

“The Holy Ghost will make you dress right, and live right, and talk right, and be right, when the Holy Ghost gets you. Amen. That's right.”

“Show me a man. Show me another Calvin, Knox, Finney, Sankey, or any of those who feels the burden of the people, that'll lay on their face and cry and pray before God. Send us a John Smith of the Baptist Church again, who prayed all night for the iniquity of the people until his eyes would be swelled shut the next morning from weeping, till his wife would lead him to the table and feed him his breakfast out of a spoon. Show me a John Wesley again, a firebrand snatched from the fire. I'll show you a revival.”

William M. Branham: 1909-1965

In this time and in this season, it seems that those whom God used mightily in their time are being criticized and labeled as heretics and delusionists. Nevertheless, such manifestations of the word of knowledge have maybe never been seen before or after those in this man's ministry. The glory of God was even being photographed hovering over his head. Truly, it is not who man commends but whom the Lord commends! His downfall came when he started to operate in an office the Lord had not called him to. But you. Be faithful in the ministry the Lord has called you into and keep the faith to the end.

39.

“If you are walking with Jesus, in the Spirit, you need not fear going too far. No believer has gone as far as God wants him to go.”

“Before one can walk as Christ walked, and talk as He talked, he must first begin to think as Christ thought.”

“But just as Christ was willing to be crucified before He could send this power, we, too, must be willing to be crucified in order to be used for the benefit of others. Could this be the reason so many who claim to have the baptism of the Holy Spirit do not manifest the power? Isn't this a glaring defect in Pentecostal circles to which the skeptical churches and the unbelievers can point? Can we blame them?”

A. A. Allen: 1911-1970

Do you know how it feels to be in the ministry but still be hungry for more of the power of God? So Allen closed himself in a closet until he met God. The rest of his life is testimony to what happens when a man meets God. Sick being healed, demons being cast out, lunatics being restored, and poor hearing the word of the gospel preached to them. If you want to be used by God, you want to be desperate. Desperate to actually meed him genuinely. For what you have, you will give.

40.

“You are what you are because that is what you really want to be! We make decisions and those decisions make us who were are!”

“I asked Smith Wigglesworth, “Wigglesworth, I've seen you dozens of times. You always look the same. Why?” He said, “Sumrall, I never ask Smith Wigglesworth how he feels. I tell him.” This was Smith Wigglesworth talking to Smith Wigglesworth. It was a spirit talking to a soul. His spirit within him was talking to his mind, his emotions, and his willpower—telling his mind what to think, his emotions how to feel, and his will what to decide. His spirit was the king of his life, motivated by faith.”

“Faith is not knowing that God can. It is knowing that He will.”

Lester Sumrall: 1913-1996

Reread the first quote from Him. This man's life was a testimony to healing the sick, casting out devils, and saving the lost. The same way the testimony of God through your life—saving the lost, healing the sick, and casting out devils—is perfectly that because you want it to be so. You either want to be lukewarm or burning hot. If you eat the world, you cannot be but lukewarm. But if you eat the Word of God, you cannot be but burning! Don't blame God for your laxity, but you do something about it!

41.

“Consider the work of Calvary. A perfect work, perfect in every respect, perfect in every aspect”

“Of course, Christianity is not a set of rules.”

“God is more concerned with our character than with our achievements. Achievements have importance only in the realm of time. Character is eternal. It determines what we will be through eternity.”

Derek Prince: 1915-2003

A rock-hard philosopher was changed when he met the supernatural power of God. At first, his hand was raised in a church meeting without him doing it. In the next meeting, he knew he had to lift his hand himself. He heard two distinctive voices saying, You are going to look really silly lifting your hand up in front of these old ladies, and, If this is something good, why should you not experience it? He lifted his hand up, and the testimony of his life was, as Jesus' told him, I have called you to be a teacher of the Scriptures in the truth, faith, and love that are hidden in Christ Jesus for many people. Those two voices are speaking now to you. Do you choose to lift your hand for God to offer yourself for His service now?

42.

“Central Truth: Prayer is successful only when it is based on the promises in God's Word!”

“Believe it in your heart; say it with your mouth. That is the principle of faith. You can have what you say.”

“If what you hear preached doesn't cause faith to come and build faith in your spirit, then it either isn't the Word of God or else you're not hearing it”

Kenneth E. Hagin: 1917-2003

A man is no more than his words. Visited by our Lord seven times, this man taught the body of Christ about faith, healing, and the authority of the believer. And it showed! He was not sick for 60 years! That was divine health manifested. Your words will defeat you or put you over. Speak the words of faith always. Always speak words of grace to edify the hearers. And do it in love, for love never thinks of evil. And love never fails!

43.

“God is a good God, and the Devil is a bad Devil.”

“Faith is not something you have to get. It's something that you, as a bornagain child of God, already have. Act on it by releasing it to God. That's when your healing starts!”

“Your faith begins to move, to act, when the power of God supernaturally empties you of doubt and fills you with a knowing. You come into a state of knowing that you know that you know. In that instant you cannot doubt.”

Oral Roberts: 1918-2009

A man who used faith like a tool. It is not some mysterious knowledge of the head but a concrete act, putting your whole weight on God. So was the life of this man. From one place of complete trust to another. From healing the sick to casting out devils to preaching the gospel, pulling the sinners from hell and plunging them to heaven, He was recorded to have laid his hands on 2 million people. Just laying hands on 2 million! How many times have you preached the gospel? Brother, sister, it is time to step up our labors of love for God!

44.

“Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion; it is like a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.”

“The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.”

“My home is in Heaven. I'm just traveling through this world.”

Billy Graham: 1918-2018

When the gospel is in your heart, you will let it out to everyone. This man preached the gospel in full stadiums again and again. He visited around the whole globe, spoke to presidents, and preached the unwatered gospel no matter the status of man. That is what we are living for. To say that our Lord Jesus died to save the people from their sins. You cannot preach if you are still living in sin! Get rid of them, repent right now, and then(!) you can preach salvation because you yourself have been saved, not in sin but from sin!

45.

“If you have worry, you don't have faith, and if you have faith, you don't have worry.”

“Fear cannot stay in the same house as Jesus Christ.”

“When Jesus comes in the scene, anything can happen, and usually does.”

Jack Coe: 1918-1956

If the size of a tent were the measure of godliness, this man would have had it. He seated over 20,000 people after World War II, preaching the gospel with signs, miracles, and wonders, being only in his 30s. But this man died at the age of 34. Why? He was corrected by the Lord through multiple of His servants, including Kenneth E. Hagin, that he walked not in love toward other ministers. Faith always works through love. If we love God with all our hearts, we love to do His will and love His children, for we are of the same family. If we don't, we have missed it and should return. Oh, wayward, return. Return to the path of life! Return to the bosom of your father.

46.

“God wants us to be walking in the beauty of His holiness so all that people will be able to see is His glory, and nothing of our earthly selves. He is calling on the body of Christ to be so totally committed to Him that nothing else matters in our lives and that we will be so 'in Him' that the world will see Jesus in us.”

“Jesus touched the man AGAIN when he said he could only see men as trees, showing that we need not be ashamed to go back more than once for our healing.”

Charles and Frances Hunter: 1920-2009, 1917-2008

The couple was on a plane with their crew, doing God's work. After a long flight, they told their people to get up and pray for the power of God to fix their backs from all problems. They did, and He did. Then a flight attendant came and told Frances that she could pray for her back after the flight. She said, Yes, now. She prayed, and her shorter hand grew in that instant to be as long as the other. She screamed. Then Frances asked if she was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. She said I'm a child of God, but would you like to pray for me after the flight? Frances said, Yes, now. So in a minute, the young woman started to speak fluently in tongues. This was a practical couple preaching the gospel and manifesting the power of God wherever they went, from public toilets to airplane.

47.

“One Way: Jesus! One Job: Evangelism!”

“How can we call ourselves a church and not believe in healing and in miracles? I cannot read four pages anywhere in the Bible without encountering miracles! And the God of the bible is the same today!”

“The purpose of a spirit filled life is to demonstrate the supernatural power of our living God so that the unsaved multitudes will abandon their dead gods to call upon the name of The Lord and be delivered.”

T. L. and Daisy Osborn. 1923-2013, 1924-1995

If you know you have the power of God in you, you will be bold in the Lord. You need to be filled with the Spirit of God, for you will receive power when the Holy Ghost comes upon you. This Spirit-filled couple went abroad, preaching boldly to the people in miracle ministry. And they told every child of God that they could and should have a miracle ministry. Because it is the ministry of God, God is doing the miracles, not you. So did God in their lives. They utterly destroyed and debunked beliefs toward false gods, showing in front of them that Jesus Christ is the Lord and there is no other name by which we must be saved!

48.

“You don't have any problems, all you need is faith in God.”

“God is looking for the believer to take up his responsibility — to be obedient to His voice and help release God's miracle power. When we come to the place where we move on what God says, when He says it — miracles will become a way of life.”

R. W. Schambach: 1926-2012

R. W. Schambach, as a young man, was working with A. A. Allen. He experienced firsthand the multitude of miracles God performed. And so he continued himself in the Spirit and power of Elijah, with the same miracles, signs, and wonders following. Do you know why? The God of the miracles was the same. So he is today! Go and heal the sick, cast out devils, and preach the gospel, working together with God. But make sure you know the God you should be working with!

49.

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”

“God always gives His best to those who leave the choice with him.”

“Rest in this - it is His business to lead, command, impel, send, call... It is your business to obey, follow, move, respond.”

Jim Elliot: 1927-1956

His heart was for the lost. In Ecuador, he married Elisabeth, and soon after his honeymoon, he returned, and Elliot began preparing to reach the Huaorani people. While meeting them, he and the group of five men were killed by Huaorani warriors. This is a war to reach the lost. Satan is doing his all to keep people hellbound. But nothing, absolutely nothing, is impossible for him who believes! We must continue the work our elder brethren have started and given their lives for. The battles are won in prayer before the confrontations. Let us not proceed before wrestling the victory over principalities, powers, and territories, and we will see the outpouring of the Spirit!

50.

“God hates the LUKEWARM GOSPEL OF HALF-TRUTHS that is now spreading over the Globe. This gospel says, 'Just believe in Jesus and you'll be Saved. There's nothing more to it.' It ignores the Whole Counsel of God, which speaks of Repenting from former Sins, of Taking up your Cross, of being conformed to the Image of Christ by the refining work of the Holy Spirit. It is totally silent about the Reality of Hell and an After-Death Judgment.”

“A humble person is not one who thinks little of himself, hangs his head and says, I'm nothing. Rather, he is one who depends wholly on the Lord for everything, in every circumstance.”

David Wilkerson: 1931-2011

Brutally frank preaching. But that was the preaching that turned multitudes to God because they saw that this man was genuine. He did not water the Word of God or try to win men's admiration. And therefore, he could be trusted just like Daniel was; he spoke only what God had said. Do you?

51.

“Sometimes it's not good to reveal everything that God tells you, unless you are prepared to go through an awful period of criticism and unbelief until it comes to pass.”

“Make this declaration: Death and life are in the power of my tongue. I choose Life!”

“Don't be satisfied with living below the full potential of prayer power Christ intended for His church”

Morris Cerrullo: 1931-2020

Coming soon...

52.

“Nothing you can do will benefit you more than prayer.”

“You could remove the powerful preaching from our church and it would still continue. You could remove the administration of pastoral care through the cell group system and the church would still continue. But if you remove the prayer life of our church it would collapse.”

David Yonggi Cho: 1936-2021

He was pastoring the world's biggest church, yet he had a great quantity of free time to spend with God in prayer. Why? He prioritized correctly. Other people took care of administrative tasks, and he fed the lambs with the fresh bread of life straight from the oven of heaven, brought from there by the bread shovel of prayer. He spent 2 hours in prayer before speaking in Korea and 3-5 hours before speaking in Europe. Why? It was not the message in itself; the heavens needed to be open for the power of God to change the listeners in that instant. We need to repent and turn back to the power source, which is prayer. Let us revive the prayer life of the church, and we will see the mighty outpouring of the Spirit again. The problem is not more wickedness, more sicknesses and diseases, or more wordliness. The problem is the lack of prayer. So the solution is simple: more prayer.

53.

“When we have nothing left but God, we discover that God is enough”

“A lifestyle change isn't required for God to accept people. All He asks for is a 'heart change.'”

“Don't tell me how big your mountain is. Tell your mountain how BIG your God is.”

Benson Idahosa: 1938-1998

A young boy read from the Bible that Jesus raised the dead. He went and asked his pastor if this could be done today and if Jesus actually meant those who believed would do the same works. The pastor answered yes. He asked if he had done so. He said no. The young man continued to search in town for anyone who had died so that Jesus could raise them from the dead. After hours, he found a house where a young girl had just died. Praying for the girl, nothing happened. He noticed Jesus drove the parens out, and so did he. Then he prayed, and the dead came back to life. This is the life we should live. A life of divine manifestation of the power of God in our lives! If you don't have experience with this power, join us, and your life will be changed by the same power that raised Jesus from the dead!

54.

“The less Holy Spirit we have, the more cake and coffee we need to keep the church going.”

“Anyone can believe when God is already moving. But real faith is when you step out when it seems that God is not moving.”

“We are not helping people to get God right, but to get right with God. The Holy Spirit alone opens hearts and minds.”

Reinhard Bonnke: 1940-2019

When he got the call of God, he was resisted by his own church and father. But nevertheless, he answered the call and went to preach the gospel in Africa. After the days of small beginnings, God guided him to rent the biggest stadium. Even tho invited none local church attended the event. There were a mere 100 people in the whole stadium. But then! Oh, but then the power of God started to move. The sick were healed; miracles, signs, and wonders manifested! The next day, the stadium was full, and the dead congregations were brought back to life. Will you answer the call of God even though you will probably be rejected by the local churches or even your family? That is the only way to revive them.
